Nest

Look what we found in the orchard yesterday, on the ground in the orchard, tucked into the edge of the strawberry bed. It's a miracle it survived the marauding chickens.

And the best part, beside that fact it's impossibly sweet? It has Frankie hair woven through.

What is it about nests?
Some of my fondest and earliest memories are of nests... mostly feeling wishful that I would find one. An empty one to hold and admire, or the chance to peek into one with baby birds. Yours is doubly sweet, since it has that Frankie connection.

We've had a chickadee deconstructing someone else's effort from our always-in-demand birdhouse. It's been weird to watch the pile of moss/feathers/whatever pile up on the ground nearby.

I don't think I've ever seen such a perfect nest! The ones we find around here seem much more haphazard. You must have some meticulous birds. :)

What a fun find! I found one last year that had Golden hair in it, and I loved thinking that little baby birds were being kept warm from my dog's hair.

A perfect looking nest.

I'm sorry but the fact that it has Frankie hair in it is pretty darn cool. Hang on to that thing.

I love nests. I've had two blue jay nests in the house all winter, but they got a bit wobbly, so I finally had to get rid of them.
