Big eggs are awe-inspiring. Big eggs make you feel the pain of the chicken who laid them.

Big eggs make you feel like a farmer.

And then there are little eggs. Especially the little eggs produced by a pullet just beginning the laying stage of her life. Little eggs make you want to go "oooh" and "aaaah". Little eggs make you want to snuggle up the pullet who laid them.

Little eggs make you feel like a mother.

Dear, little eggs.
I just used two, for the recipe that called for "one large egg."
Congratulations, clever pullet. Long may you lay!

I have but one word:

They are too, too cute! I'd be bringing that hen into the house, knowing me!

That's a big damn Egg!

I love pullet eggs - it's magic every time I find them. I feel like such a proud mama!

Right about now, come to think of it, I'd be happy with just ANY eggs at all. Molting = irritated and hungry Lindsey.

We got one a while ago that was tiny, the size of my thumb! I couldn't believe that someone in my flock (no banties) had laid that. It was hanging around the kitchen for a while because it was so cute that no one could bear to eat it.

This is great thinking. If we see a large egg we are pleased. But we do not think about the hen who laid it. Thank you for such a great post.
