We may have been having trouble keeping our sprouts and bushes to ourselves and away from the mouths of deer and mice, but boy, can we grow skunk cabbage!

I'm assuming that skunk cabbage is the romaine-looking stuff with the tulip-like flowers? And that because it's called skunk cabbage, it's not edible? Or does it just stink? I guess if it were edible, the mice and deer would be all over it.
It's kind of pretty, though....
It is a pretty plant--Can you feel heat from it and does it really smell as bad as they say it does??
Yes it really smells like skunk. We don't have skunks here on Vancouver Island but once you've smelt one you never forget!
Yes, the skunk cabbage is the plant with the yellow flowers. It seems to like damp (even wet) conditions, it flowers in spring (those yellow flowers are about 8 inches tall), and according to people who can smell, it really does smell like skunk. In other words, it really stinks! But hey, we take our feelings of accomplishment wherever we can!
It is kinda pretty. Just like skunks, I guess - pretty to look at but, boy watch out!
